As practitioners we are told to self-care, to be resilient, as if there’s something wrong with us when we’re affected by our work. Secondary trauma should be seen in the context of the organisational systems it exists in. Doing this will improve the wellbeing of the workforce, so they can improve the wellbeing of the communities they work with.

Date: Thursday 15th November 2018

Time: 10am-4.30pm

Venue :La Mon Hotel & Country Club, 41 Gransha Road, Belfast.

Irish Foster Care Association Conferences are great events and highly commended by IAIA members. They are wonderfully inclusive with programs for Children, Teenagers, Families, Carers and Professionals. This year’s conference theme is ‘Fostering Stability’. There will be 29 workshops over three days with a separate children and young people’s programme. The conference brings together all those with an interest in foster care. This years conference will offer scope to explore how the system can better support stability for children in foster care and look at many aspects of practice and policy of relevance to this theme

Occasional evening work will be required in the Project Worker positions. Project Workers are expected to travel if families are not in a position to attend the Post Adoption Centres and so must have the flexibility to travel in line with the needs of the work (full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured vehicle required).
