Irish Attachment in Action are pleased to be hosting an Online screening of Resilience with a selected panel discussion. Unfortunately,this is a closed session for Professionals in the Tipperary area, Ireland. This ground breaking documentary instigated conversations world wide around Trauma and it’s impact on the human condition,however the capacity for resilience and growth.

“Whilst society often portrays childhood as a time of hapiness and innocence, the sad reality for many children is that this is simply not true. In general, we assume that children are resilient and tough; we expect that they won’t clearly remember upsetting events from their earliest years in their later ones. However, will the mind may forget, this clever documentary highlights that the body still remembers. Resilience reveals how toxic stress in pre-teens can trigger hormones that can wreak havoc on their brains and bodies.”

Should you or your organisation be interested in having a screening or attending one, please email info@iaia.ie for further information.

Three Cork organisations Ag Eisteacht, Caidreamh Family & Practitioner Assessment & Therapeutic Services and SHEP (Social and Health Education Project) with shared values and a common interest in frontline practitioner care and development are holding a one-day, innovative seminar to open a conversation about the perception and realities of frontline practice

The event is the first of a series of collaborative initiatives by the group exploring focused ways of supporting frontline workers.

It is open to all frontline practitioners and managers working in health, education, social care and justice sector roles in public, private or community organisations.

The aim of the seminar is to create a safe space and time for frontline practitioners to gather together as a community to reflect on the values and sense of mission and purpose that drew them to their work in the first place and how they can reconnect with this and keep motivated and well.

The morning session will include a series of inspirational talks including a keynote speech by Dr Caroline Elton, Chartered Psychologist and author of ‘Also Human – The Inner Lives of Doctors.’

Parent-Child Attachment Play (PCAP) is a very innovative and empowering early help attachment programme for parents and their children from 3-15+. It can be delivered with groups, 1:1 or through a home-visiting model.  Parents and carers are often concerned about their children’s behaviour and that by adopting a playful attachment approach they will somehow lose control over their family life.  In fact, the opposite is true.  When the parent-child relationship is working, helpful child behaviour generally follows and family life becomes more manageable.

 This 10-step programme is based on the latest attachment research which shows that supporting the parent-child attachment relationship sets the scene for the best outcomes for children right into adulthood.

 PCAP involves sharing three skills with parents and carers through interactive workshop-style sessions;

1.  Play (and the creation of a shoebox or bag of toys/activities designed around the preferences of the child)

2.  Containment (managing time, environment, emotions and helping children to make helpful choices)

3.  Head, Heart and Hands (an attachment tool based on evidence-based Reflective Functioning

 Courses are targeted towards professionals working with children and families not parents.
